Photo Shoot by Gray Accord

Have I ever told you that my boyfriend, Brian, is an extremely talented photographer? Well, he is! You can find him on Instagram, HERE.
These days, he mostly takes pictures of our houses in the real estate family business, but every now and then he does something a little more arty. This weekend was one of those times, and he set up a dreamy library scene as a backdrop, with me posing in front. I've added a few of my favourite images below.

Now, I still have a great fear of having my picture taken, (that's a long story, better told in person) but I am trying to get over it. I struggle with self loathing and depression, and seeing myself in photos is not conducive to a happy state of mind for me. I know a lot of us struggle with comparing ourselves to the "perfect" images that we see in the media these days. I know that is not a healthy way to live. That does not mean that we don't still struggle.

I am learning to love myself a little more each day. I am still fighting the demons that speak with the voices of my bullies and bad relationships. So, you may notice that I take a few selfies, and post them on my social media pages. I am trying to be kinder to myself. And braver. These are my way of telling those haters that I'm still here, I'm still standing, and that they did not win!

My Shop!

Happy Sunday everyone! I’m still recovering from my long day yesterday, but I really had so much fun at the Gallopond Gallop event. Here’s a peek at my tent. It was very windy (as you can see from the billowing tablecloths!) so I had to tie everything down extra-secure, and I had to rethink my entire display. Sadly, I was not able to display my collages and paintings well, so they were in crates to one side. Luckily, nothing else flew TOO far away, and I was able to retrieve the things that did!

I got to meet some amazing people, including more talented artists, musicians, and dancers. AND, I may have some more exciting news to share with you all soon, but I'll keep quiet on that score until I know for certain!

Soldier Dogs and the Gallopond Gallop.

As you know, I will be selling some of my work at the upcoming Gallopond Gallop 5K Run, Music Fest and Fair this Saturday in Gloucester, VA, and I am so excited to be a part of this event! Also, as of right now, the temperature is predicted to be 79F/26C on Saturday, which is much cooler than the 92F/33C that they had predicted a few days ago. So that will be much better for the runners, and also those of us sitting out in the sun all day. Phew!

This event is for charity, so a portion of all sales and proceeds will go to the incredible Semper K9 organization in Woodbridge, VA. Semper K9 rescues dogs from shelters and trains them to be service animals for veterans, and I am honoured to be able to donate some of my sales to this worthwhile cause. They were actually featured on Mike Rowe's Returning The Favor show in season two, so you KNOW that this is an organization that is well worthy of our attention, support, and any donations you can spare.

For more information, please check out the links below, and if you are in the area, we would love to see you on Saturday!
